A bridge is a dental restoration that replaces one or more missing teeth by “bridging” the gap between two healthy teeth or dental implants. It typically consists of an artificial tooth (pontic) which is attached to two dental crowns that fit over the healthy adjacent teeth or implants. A bridge can restore biting function along with the ability to chew. It also maintains proper alignment of the surrounding teeth and prevents them from shifting into the space of the missing tooth. Aesthetically, a bridge can restore confidence back in a patient’s smile.
