A very common cosmetic issue that patients complain about is black triangles. These are unaesthetic dark spaces near the gumline in between the teeth, which occur due to tooth shape, tooth position, and/or gum recession, and are often associated with aging. In addition to being unaesthetic, these spaces also have the tendency to trap and collect food and plaque, increasing the risk of developing tooth decay or gum disease. One solution for closing off these spaces is by modifying the shape of the tooth through either veneers or dental bonding. Another option is by volumizing or bulking out the gum tissue to better fill this space through the use of dermal fillers (ie/ Juvederm® or Revanesse®, the same products that are used for lip filler).
